Hanuman Birth Story

Sri Ram devotee God Hanuman also known as 'Anjaneya' (son of Anjana) or Maruti Nandan ( or Maruti ). According to hinduism mythology, Anjana was an apsara ( Pari ), named 'Punjikasthala'. Anjana due to a irritation, was born on the earth (Pruthvi Lok) as a female vanara (monkey incarnation). The irritation was to be removed upon Anjana giving birth to an incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is also believe that Lord Sri Hanuman was born on Anjaneya mountain, where Sugreeva and Lord Sri Rama met. Along with Kesari, anjana husband, Anjana performed deep prayers to Lord Shiva to produce Him as her Child. Pleased with anjana devotion, Lord Shiva granted them the boon they wanted.[2] Hence, the God Hanuman is also known as "Maharudra" because hanuman was born out of the boon given to Anjana by the Lord Shiva.

Many legends are told explanation Sri Hanuman's birth. One of them is that when Anjana was worshipping God Shiva, elsewhere, the king of Ayodhya Dashrath, was performing the Yagna in order to get children.
