According to hindu mythology to the story Sita (Sri Ram Wife’s) was applying tilak of sindhūr to her forhead, When Hanuman asked to sita why doing tilak then she replied that this would make sure a long life for her husband Sri Rama. Hanuman then muddy his entire body with sindhūr, in an effort to ensure Rama’s immortality.

Hanuman Birth Story

Sri Ram devotee God Hanuman also known as 'Anjaneya' (son of Anjana) or Maruti Nandan ( or Maruti ). According to hinduism mythology, Anjana was an apsara ( Pari ), named 'Punjikasthala'. Anjana due to a irritation, was born on the earth (Pruthvi Lok) as a female vanara (monkey incarnation). The irritation was to be removed upon Anjana giving birth to an incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is also believe that Lord Sri Hanuman was born on Anjaneya mountain, where Sugreeva and Lord Sri Rama met. Along with Kesari, anjana husband, Anjana performed deep prayers to Lord Shiva to produce Him as her Child. Pleased with anjana devotion, Lord Shiva granted them the boon they wanted.[2] Hence, the God Hanuman is also known as "Maharudra" because hanuman was born out of the boon given to Anjana by the Lord Shiva.

Second Hanuman Birth Legend

Many legends are told explanation Sri Hanuman's birth. One of them is that when Anjana was worshipping God Shiva, elsewhere, the king of Ayodhya Dashrath, was performing the Yagna in order to get children. As a outcome, the King Dashrath received some holy payasam ( Kheer ) which was shared among Dashrath’s three wife.And get three child Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna. By divine rule, a kite quick a fragment of that payasam ( kheer ) and dropped it while in the air over the forest where Anjana was engaged in worship. The Hindu god of the wind Vayu, delivered the falling payasam to the outstretched hands of Anjana, who consumed it. Lord Hanuman was born to her as a result.
